For the pursuit of other's happiness

For the pursuit of other's happiness, and never my own. Taught to be a man of principle, a man of integrity and most importantly to treat those around him as he would like to be treated. How can one do so in a world as polluted as this? That is a question that must be answered as quick as it is asked. It is simply just to do so. Perhaps another time there can be a greater discussion, but for the time being it is something I tell myself. I once thought that I would like to do good for a greater cause. Fighting for some greater people, for greater purpose and greater meaning. The world. One fated discussion with a man I once looked to in dark times led me to something else. Simply put it is near impossible to fight for the greater good. So I chose to focus on what was near me rather than the bigger picture. That is my greater good the people I know and hold so dearly. It's been 1 year with that new mentality and the challenges only grow. Somehow fighting for some vague idea of justice was both easier and more rewarding than this new approach. I would break bones, move mountains and give all that I hold to make those around me happy. For I love them, but is it right that that same love I give be treated as if it were a piece of yesterday's garbage? I may give that love freely but that does not make it any less precious. To be loved is to be treasured and cherished for what you are which is a miracle. A unique being that cannot be replicated and must be valued for what you bring. This is something that should be realized by the time you attend your final year of public schooling. For that is a lesson that you learn with age and experience. So why then is it something so few of us possess. Why is that something that even when others exude some remain so blind. And why least of all am I the one to hold that information while holding my tongue. Perhaps I am nothing more than bitter but it is something I want to find an answer for one of these days. The fact that I would take a bullet for you even when it was you who fired it in the first place will forever wound me and be my death. Nothing but folly.
